Changes that occur slowly sometimes have tidal wave effects that are only clear many years later...

As I sat eating my meal after break fast from Yom Kippur, I was in total awe at the results of the religious process my wife and I started over 16 years ago...

Neither my wife nor I grew up following Jewish law so the process required a lot of soul searching, learning, change, adopting, etc... Over many years we changed what we ate, how we dressed, how we kept Shabbos and other Yom Tovim (holidays) that we never heard of, as well as many other details for another time... The tidal wave effects that I am referring to are our kids, Baruch HaShem (Thank G-d) that observed Yom Kippur yesterday in such a beautiful way and a way that neither my wife or I did at their age...

Most of them fasted the whole day (the 11 year old tried...), sat in shul on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning and Wednesday night... the most inspiring part was that my wife was bedridden sick most of the day and the girls stayed in shul without her and went back at night by themselves...

This ripple effect is not true with just religion, but I think anything you believe in... let's take health for example... if you are a person that believes in living a healthy life, via eating properly and exercising, others will take notice, especially those close to you... even if you don't push them, just by living healthy and them seeing the benefits and the passion you exude for a healthy life, they will want to learn more... and maybe, just maybe they will want to live healthier too... the closer you are to them, the more likely your actions will have an impact on them...

what's the bottom line: when a person takes on positive things in their life as others see their passion and positive results it will change other people's lives, not just yours... don't be afraid or shy to share your changes with others... and don't be turned off by listening to their stories also...

Thank you and many blessings,

Moshe
