Fix the problem while it is small (or before it ever happens) - the door hinge lesson
The hinge to our screen door was broken for a while and we kept meaning to fix it... but we never did... after months, yes literally months of moving in the wind, the screen door broke... new door and labor was over $400... how much would've it cost to just fix the hinge? probably less than $50... lesson learned - fix the problem when it's small or before it happens...
See where this is going? Many people don't exercise and as a result face numerous health issues later in life... they claim they don't have time to exercise now, so when they are older they are forced to make time to go to the doctor, have numerous treatments and procedures, etc... friends, INVEST the time in YOU now... it doesn't matter your age, start exercising!
The Harmful Effects of Not Getting Enough Physical Activity
**Heart Disease - Not getting enough physical activity can lead to heart disease—even for people who have no other risk factors. It can also increase the likelihood of developing other heart disease risk factors, including obesity, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes.
**Type 2 Diabetes - Not getting enough physical activity can raise a person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Physical activity helps control blood sugar (glucose), weight, and blood pressure and helps raise “good” cholesterol and lower “bad” cholesterol. Adequate physical activity can also help reduce the risk of heart disease and nerve damage, which are often problems for people with diabetes.
**Cancer - Getting the recommended amount of physical activity can lower the risk of many cancers, including cancers of the breast, colon, and uterus. Regular physical activity is one of the most important things people can do to improve their health. Moving more and sitting less have tremendous benefits for everyone, regardless of age, sex, race, ethnicity, or current fitness level.
The Health Benefits of Physical Activity
Physical activity is one of the best things people can do for their health. The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, 2nd Edition presents new findings on the benefits of regular physical activity, which include:
**Improved sleep.
**Increased ability to perform everyday activities.
**Improved cognitive ability and a reduced risk of dementia
**Improved bone and musculoskeletal health.
**Emerging research also suggests that physical activity may help our immune systems protect our bodies from infection and disease.
