Strengthening the Heart — One Jump at a Time

When I was 39, I wasn’t exercising at all. My father had heart issues, and both heart disease and diabetes ran in his family. I knew if I didn’t do something, I was heading down the same road.
One day I picked up a kids’ jump rope. Nothing fancy, just a rope. That small step led me to discover Crossrope weighted ropes, and my routine began. Three times a week, 10 minutes each time. In that first year, I lost 14 pounds I had never been able to shed before — but even more important, I started building a healthier heart.
From there, things grew. I started leading in-person classes. Then COVID hit, and we shifted online. At one point, Jump Into Shape was running 30 live classes each week — ropes, weights, Pilates, and more. Over time, Baruch HaShem, I’ve taught close to 3,000 classes. Today, Jump Into Shape has over 200 members completing around 500 classes each week, with programs to keep things exciting.
The results have been real. At my most recent doctor’s visit, my resting heart rate was 40 — a strong, healthy heart.
If you’re waiting for the “perfect time” to start, let me tell you: it doesn’t exist. The time is now.
Here are 3 simple steps you can take today:
Start small — even 10 minutes, three times a week, makes a difference.
Stay consistent — it’s not about perfection, it’s about showing up.
Find support — a community makes the journey easier and more fun.
